The BA Celebrates the Centenary of the Great Thinker Mourad Wahba

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina, in cooperation with the Arab Council for Childhood and Development, organized a seminar celebrating the centenary of the thinker Mourad Wahba, in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the BA, Dr. Hassan El-Bilawi, Secretary General of the Arab Council for Childhood and Development; Dr. Magdy Mourad Wahba, Professor of Structural Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University; Mr. Helmy El-Namnam, former Minister of Culture; and the great poet Ahmed Abdel-Moaty Hegazy, in addition to a host of intellectuals and philosophy professors.

In his opening speech, Dr. Ahmed Zayed stressed that the mind is the creator of civilizations and the center of the universe, highlighting the need to pay attention to future generations and educate them on scientific and rational foundations for a better future.

At the end of the opening session, Dr. Sameh Fawzy, Senior BA Researcher and Supervisor of the Memory of Egypt Project, read a message from Dr. Moustafa El-Feki, in which he commended the role played by the BA in honoring thinkers from Egypt and the Arab world, stating that it is a shining beacon for its patrons. He also paid tribute to Dr. Mourad, whom he called the contemporary Ibn Rushd, describing him as a creative thinker and thoughtful philosopher.

The seminar also featured the screening of a documentary film on Dr. Mourad Wahba, produced by the BA Studio Department.

The session concluded with a speech by the actor Mahmoud Hemida, during which he underlined the importance of young people learning about Mourad Wahba's articles that were published in Al-Ahram newspaper, which covered various disciplines.
