The Launch of a New BA Embassy of Knowledge at Suez University

Prof. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and Prof. Ashraf Heniegal, President of Suez University, inaugurated a new Embassy of Knowledge at Suez University. The ceremony witnessed the presence of Dr. Mohamed Soliman, Acting Deputy Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina; Prof. Sherif Fahmy, Vice President of Suez University for Graduate Studies and Research; Prof. Mohamed El-Shahed, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Commerce, Director of the Digital Library Unit, and Coordinator of the Embassy of Knowledge at Suez University; Dr. Ahmed Samir, Head of the Information and Communication Technology Sector at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina; Dr. Ashraf Farag, Supervisor of the Embassies of Knowledge Department at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina; and journalist Alaa Abdel Hady, Media Advisor to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.

Dr. Ahmed Zayed said that the BA Embassy of Knowledge at Suez University is the 31st in a series of embassies established by the Library at public, private, international, and technological universities across Egypt, in addition to the embassies that have been launched at certain Egyptian bodies and institutions, and the Embassy that was inaugurated at the Egyptian Cultural Bureau in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Zayed stressed that the Bibliotheca Alexandrina is using the remarkable development of communications and information technology applications as a means to break down the barrier of distance between the Library's headquarters in Alexandria and other Egyptian universities, in order to facilitate the delivery of information and knowledge resources to the scientific and cultural community, providing them with all of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina's unlimited cultural, scientific, and knowledge resources.

For his part, Prof. Ashraf Heniegal said that the opening of the Embassy of Knowledge at Suez University aligns with the Egyptian State’s vision under the leadership of H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who has prioritized science and knowledge as the basis for renaissance and progress, emphasizing that the Embassy of Knowledge is a practical translation of this vision, as it opens wide doors for students and researchers to access the largest digital repositories and global databases.

Dr. Ahmed Samir, Head of the Library's Information Technology Sector, gave an introductory presentation on the Embassy of Knowledge and the Library's unlimited potential in serving researchers.
