Objective: Introduces the student to the history of art, starting from ancient Egypt to the Islamic era, with a focus on Greek and Roman art, and to study the relationship between art and their historical backgrounds.
Content: This course begins with an introduction to the general classification of art major and minor and the basic terminology associated with the study of art history. It also gives a general idea about the manufacture of art pieces and its meanings, starting from ancient Egypt to the Islamic era, with a focus on Greek and Roman art, then Byzantine and Coptic art. The course focuses on the relationship between the arts and their historical backgrounds, and pays special attention to the cultural communication between different artistic centers in the important stages of history
