Objective: Familiarizes the student with the meaning of archeology, its importance and its various branches, including its origin and development, the exact disciplines of archeology and its branches, and the auxiliary sciences of archeology. The course also presents the various theories on which archeology is based.
Content: The course deals with the methods of interpreting and dating antiquities through studying the archaeological evidence on which the archaeological researcher depends, as well as the technical methods and their importance in archeology and the various archaeological discoveries and their classification. The course also presents the development of archeology in Egypt and the different stages it went through during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
