Objective: The course aims to study the philosophical schools that were established in Alexandria during the Hellenistic and Roman eras. Emphasis will be placed on studying the origins of these schools and their relationship to science and arts.

Content: It deals with Neoplatonism, Epicureanism, grammar schools, Philo, Aristarchus, Euclid, and Heron. The course also includes the Stoic School that was founded in the 3rd century BCE, and the student evaluates the difference between Zeno, the founder of the ideology, and the last poles of Stoicism such as Seneca. The student also studies the Skepticism School, and analyzes the philosophical ideas of Peron and Timon.
